Chinese Silk Exhibition
Description
From Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd June, P&Y International and Devonshire Square will be hosting in its historical Western Courtyard an exclusive Oriental Silk Arts & Craft Exhibition.
Visitors will have the chance to admire a wide range of some of the finest handcrafted silk products created by using the most traditional textile techniques dating back to the Song dynasty.
A collection of fine crewel embroidery artworks by award winning artist Qian Liping will also be on show.
The display will include the replica of the precious dark blue ceremonial robe belonging to Empress Wu (1115-1197), decorated with depictions of paired pheasant and bordered with red gauze featuring dragon patterns.
The exhibition is meant to represent a retrospective journey from the traditional garments designs typical of the Song dynasty to the contemporary creations inspired by the imperial style, showcased during the China Fashion Week’s shows last February.
The replicas of some of the national giftsets offered by the Chinese State to the world leaders during their official state visits to China will also be on display.
The event is free attendance and registration is not required.
